Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a few reminders and help needed things.

  1. Remember our workday on Saturday.  We have MUCH to do.  Cleaning, painting, props, etc.  We will begin work around 10:00     a.m. and go until around 5:00.  If you have ANY time you can give it would be appreciated.
  2. Costume and Tech rehearsal on Sunday!  - Please be ready to start at 2:00.  I will be at the theatre at 1:00 to let people in.  Don't forget Picture for the board will be taken Sunday and Monday.
  3. Sign up for Wednesday Dress Rehearsal if you are inviting friends!  We need to make sure we can accommodate everyone.  E-mail me names and numbers if you have not already signed up.
  4. We need volunteers to care for the children during the show!  If you know someone who works well with kids please have them contact us.  We will set up a space for the kids to hang out and be comfortable.  Just want it to be a pleasant experience for all.
  5. If you have any prop or costume needs contact me today so that I can go and get them.  I will be doing the final shopping run today!
I know I don't say it enough.  YOU ARE ALL DOING GREAT!  We are going to have a great show!

Blessings,

David

Important! Important! Important!

I have uploaded a copy of our final rehearsal schedule.  Note the changes in time for ending from 9:30 to 9:00.   Also note the changes highlighted in yellow or Red.  With only three weeks until we open it is imperative that we make full use of every moment of rehearsal.  This is made easier when everyone is there.  Additionally we have some young children we will be adding into the big group scenes.

This is going to be a great show and we are looking forward to a fabulous run.

Please help us publicize the show by sending e-mails, facebook notices, text messages to friends and family.  They can make reservations on line by visiting www.steepleplayers.org.  Simply follow the links to "buy tickets."

Wednesday, November 30 with be a special "Dress Rehearsal" for you to invite your family to see the show.  We offer this in lieu of comp tickets.  It is our way of saying thank you for a job a well done and chance for you to celebrate this show with those you love most in the world.  We will have a sheet for you to sign up your family members to attend.  We ask that you please limit the number of guests to 4 per family until everyone has had a chance to sign up their family.

We will also have a list of volunteers we need for the show.  Concessions and ushers.  If your spouse, parents, older children would like to work simply sign them up and then be sure they are here the day of their commitment.  We will have instructions available for them.

It is time to get bio's for the program.  Please make them brief!  With a large cast our program could get out of hand if everyone writes a paragraph.  Try and keep it to a couple of sentences.  I prefer to receive them via e-mail so that we can simply cut and paste them into the program.  If you need help with this ask a veteran or pick up an old program at rehearsal to see examples.

If you own a business or work somewhere that will allow you to put up posters please pick up some at the theatre.  We hope to have them by Saturday.  Please don't take them for souvenirs!  We will make them available to you after the run of the show for that purpose.

There is a lot more but it will wait.

See you at rehearsal!

David and Carol.

Thursday's and Saturday's Schedule

Thanks to everyone for all their hard work!  The show is going to be great!

We open 4 weeks from Thursday!  Yikes!

We have a ton to do including painting and finishing the set and a whole lot more!

Thursday's rehearsal is for anyone who has a scripted line.  So if you have a line you say, please come to that rehearsal.  We will begin at 6:30 and go until 9:00.  I would like to run the entire show with the speaking roles and really polish those scenes.

Saturday will be both a work day and a rehearsal!  We will begin our workday at 9:00 with work on the set, props, costumes, etc.  If there is a dad, uncle, grandpa, cousin or anyone else you know that can come and help lead others while we rehearse please have them call me!  Rehearsal will begin at 10:00 and end at 1:00.  We will do the entire show with scene changes!  IN ORDER!

We will then continue to work on the set until 5:00.  There is lots do including painting so be sure to wear paint clothes if you plan to stay and work.  Bring money for lunch and we will order out for something or walk someplace close for something.

Five Weeks to Opening Night!

Don't want to frighten anyone, but yes, we really do open this show five weeks from today!

Please be getting off script ASAP!  The best thing you can do to help this show is know your lines at least 4 weeks before opening night!

We will have a work day all day and evening on Monday, October 31 if anyone is available and wants to help out.  We will probably get started around 10 with breaks for lunch and dinner.  Literally will be here all day!

Cemile is going to be our costumer for this show.  She is great.  Please be patient with her and wear whatever she tells you to wear.  It is a costume not your personal wardrobe.  She may ask some of you if you have things you can bring in.  This will be helpful if you do.

Lauren Sterban will be taking our publicity photos and cast photos.  I want to get a shot of Virginia, O'Hanlan, Evie, Sean, and Santa next week for the papers and the posters.  If you have something that is approriate at home please bring it in this Saturday for Carol to look at.  If not, plan on staying after rehearsal Saturday to look for something that will work.

Women, we ask that you wear black character shoes if you have them.  If not we have some here at the theatre that you may try on or ask around and see if you can borrow some.  If you are going to continue to do this "acting" thing it wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in a pair as most shows require them.  (you don't have to though, just a suggestions.)  You will also need black tights/hose/knee highs for costume.  Women didn't show their legs then.

Everyone will have only ONE costume except those men playing more than one part.  We change the look through accessories.  Remember this is NYC in 1897 and they were poor.  Most people only had 2 outfits. - an everyday outfit and a go to church outfit.

Keep up the good work!

Tonight is Principles Only Act 2.

Saturday is ALL.  Please make every effort to be there.  We are really running short on time!

Adults, if you are up for it we may start running rehearsals a little later on the principle only nights to get in some extra work.  No later than 9 or 9:30.  I will let you know ahead of time when that will begin.

Thanks again.

David

Tuesday, October 25 Rehearsal and other stuff

Hi everyone,

Thanks for you patience while I have been out of town.  Carol, thanks for your leadership.

Tonight is an ALL rehearsal except for the little children (those 6 and under).  I will be late getting there due to work (after this week I think I will be done missing rehearsals!)

Be getting off script!  Time is really starting to run short for getting this thing done.  We are down to 5 weeks I think.

See you all tonight, eventually!
